Many people aspire to the former but feel the latter is probably more sensible.

The classic estate agent tactic when pitching for business is "high price, low fee, long fixed term agency agreement - sign here". Unfortunately this usually costs the client more money than it saves. There is a lot of research to show that a competitively priced house actually sells for MORE money than the neighbouring property which started marketing at a higher guide price. And yet the "average" estate agency still stacks the shelves with as many properties as possible, relying on a law of averages which dictates some will sell and some won't. After all, as long as those that do can produce a profit who cares about those that don't?

We are different from every other agency we know. We look to sell and let every property we are given. You trust us to look after your property - probably your most valuable asset - and we take that trust very seriously. To this end we actively keep our stock LOW! To most agents this sounds a crazy way to do business, in fact it allows us to spend more time per day on each property, each buyer and each seller. As a result we sell and rent a higher percentage of our properties.
Our service tailors the marketing to the need of the client, not the need of the agent. That is why we spend far more time, energy and money advertising each of our properties than we do our own services. Your property gains market exposure with us that at least matches anything a national/ international agent can provide, with the all-important addition of time expenditure and local knowledge that they cannot.

Who are we?
James Cridland has run various estate agency businesses over many years, taking each to market leader status. He has helped thousands of people to find a new home. He is also second generation estate agent so can confidently say property is "in the blood". Many of his ex-clients are now friends, some of whom were instrumental in persuading him to open an agency. As the testimonials show he is one of the most effective agents in the business. He is also downright obsessive, the smallest detail being sometimes the difference between successful marketing and failure he is unrivalled in insisting every photo and every word must be perfect. Consequently Harriet spends a lot of her time hiding his laptop and mobile on holiday/ after hours... Outside work if it has an engine or a sail it's James' passion, and when he's not working on a car or boat he can often be found in a second-hand record store or soldering old bits of hi-fi together (some of which survive the experience...)
Harriet Cridland owned and ran a recruitment business for 10 years, building it from nothing - then sold it as a successful concern with an international reputation. Her understanding of business and finance is second to none, she is an outstanding networker, and she is never afraid to be completely honest with her advice. She is the glue that holds the office together, providing the all-important "2 steps back" perspective the rest of us need to keep us on track. Harriet is also one of the most organised people on this planet. Once a keen horse rider she is hoping that between family and work there will be more time for that one day. Meantime, like James, she loves classic cars and sailing boats; unlike James she is also a fabulous cook!
Lucy Antony has lived and worked in North Oxfordshire for many years, and her experience includes managing a branch of one of the independent agents which she dragged from a major loss to market leader status. Her reputation is one of extreme sensitivity and understanding, always willing to go the extra mile to ensure clients' interests are the number 1 priority. She is also, perhaps reluctantly, our letting specialist as she is a stickler for getting the process right. Lucy has never quite forgiven James for persuading her to become an agent in the first place! When not in the office she is likely to be found wandering around a stately home with at least two cameras, a bag of lenses and tripod.
Sara MacAndrew-Uren must be the nicest, or should that be craziest, person we know. After we sold her house she decided it would be fun to come and work with us! This arrangement is heavily loaded in our favour as she is one of the calmest, most observant people you could meet, with an instinct for property and people few can match. Sara's last house was one of the best presented and most comprehensively refurbished we have ever seen; the new project is shaping up to be even better although how she manages it between work and family commitments we have no idea...
